Lakshadweep Travel Guide | Bangaram Island

Lakshadweep Travel Guide, covering everything you need to know for planning the Trip. Lakshadweep Island, a union territory, is the most unexplored place of India. It is located in the Indian Ocean, closer to Kerala. It is very beautiful island with one of the best coral reefs and marine life.

My holiday to Lakshadweep Island was planned way back in 2014, but somehow, I actually did it in 2019. I cherished all the moments on the island. We selected Bangaram Island for the stay and experienced all water activities including scuba, snorkeling and kayaking. Apart from Bangaram island, there are other Lakshadweep islands like Kavaratti, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Minicoy, Thinnakara and Agatti where Lakshadweep Airport is also located. Lakshadweep vlog shares all the activities we did on the Bangaram island.

Lakshadweep Airport is one of the most scenic airport of India. This blog helps you in How to travel to Lakshadweep for those who planning the trip.

I will answer all those questions which many of you have asked me about my holiday and try to answer them as much as possible.

How to Reach?

Lakshadweep Island can be reached by flight from Kochi or Trivandrum, however, frequency of the flight is limited. Alternatively, you can also visit the island via cruise which covers more than 1 island.

Best Time to visit Lakshadweep

Winter time, Nov-Feb is the best time to visit the island. Being on Southern side, it is very hot and humit throughout the year. From June to September, Bangaram Island is closed due to monsoon.

What type of accommodation is available?

Every island has different options of accomodation available. We stayed at Bangaram which has air conditioned cottages. Apart from that, islands like Kadmat and Kavaratti have tents available which can significantly reduce your cost of stay. If you visit Lakshadweep via cruise, then your accomodation will be in the cruise.

What are the things to do?

Lakshadweep being an island offers all the activities that an island can offer. Right from relaxing on the beach to enjoying the sunsets and sunrises, you can go cycling around the island. Besides, there are many water sport options from scuba diving to snorkelling to kayaking. You can also go for random dips into the ocean at any time of the day.

How many days do you require?

We would generally recommend 4-5 days so that you can spend 3 to 4 days on the island and allow 1 day for travel. If you love islands, I would recommend longer stays as it is amazingly relaxing and there are loads of activities you can indulge in.

What about food?

There are plenty of food options available. If you opt for stay at Bangaram, the package includes food as well. The food is not just tasty but the ambience is amazing. Every evening, you will have dinner by the sea with private reserved tables right besides the ocean.

Lakshadweep vs Anadaman

It depends on what you like. If you love solitude and natural ocean beauty, Lakshadweep is highly recommended. If you prefer a place, where its not just about an island but also other things like visiting forests/ jails/ museums, then Andaman is the destination. Andaman Island is larger in size and has more attractions to do. Whereas all the islands of Lakshadweep are smaller and focus on single island experience.

I would say lakshadweep beats Andaman hands down in terms of the oceanic beauty and ability to live with nature in solitude on an island.
